If you find yourself in the picturesque coastal town of San Juan de los Terreros, make sure to pause at Café Bar 'La Sombrilla'. Nestled on C. Bailén, this café is not just a spot to grab a quick drink; it's a delightful blend of local culture, art, and flavorful offerings that will linger in your memory long after you leave.

What makes this café so special? For starters, the ambiance is unlike any other. As you enter, you're greeted by a charming collection of quirky garden ornaments and stunning pieces of Spanish pottery that are almost as tantalizing as the food itself. Imagine sipping your favorite coffee while surrounded by artistic treasures that beckon to be taken home.

The menu, while simple, is filled with comforting flavors that embrace the essence of local Spanish cuisine. Dive into an aromatic cup of coffee or enjoy a traditional tostada. The coffee, praised by loyal patrons like A Sykes, is a crowd favorite, particularly the manchada - a milky coffee that perfectly balances richness and flavor. Pair your drink with some fresh tapas, and you’ll have the perfect mid-morning or afternoon snack. The friendly service enhances the experience, making you feel like part of the local community.

Speaking of community, customers consistently rave about the café's inviting atmosphere. Berni Albrighton shares that it's hard to resist picking up a piece of pottery here, a testament to the fine craftsmanship found amongst the vibrant displays. Plus, hearing the locals chat over their meals offers a genuine glimpse into daily life in this beautiful town.

For those with an adventurous spirit, take note from David Lusty, who humorously describes the café as a wonderland filled with unexpected curiosities. It’s like stepping into an Aladdin's cave where each corner brings something new to discover.

Whether you're stopping in for a quick coffee after a day exploring the coast or hunting for the perfect souvenir, Café Bar 'La Sombrilla' is sure to please. The combination of delicious, fresh food, unique art, and warm hospitality creates an experience that’s not to be missed on your journey through Almería. So next time you are in the area, treat yourself to a moment of joy wrapped in local charm!

Lovely choice of Spanish pottery. Reasonably priced, I thought. Didn't stay for a drink, but it was inviting.

We always pick up a piece of pottery here, its hard not to as there is so much. Coffee is good, tapas is fresh. The locals use the bar so you never forget that you are in a wonderful traditional location. Service good.

Very odd cafe crammed with garden ornaments of every possible shape or size. An ideal place to come of you are looking for a Venus de Milo who looks as if she's been in a fight. They also serve coffee and tostadas.

A unique location combining food, art and Spanish flair, just right for a quick stop and/or taking home a souvenir of their incredible pottery items
